So iv recently got some smart switches that don't need a neutral as my house doesn't have any neutral wires that I can set to decoupled mode so that I can turn my Hue bulbs on and off. However as soon as I turn the bulb off that the switch is connected to either using the hue app or the decoupled switch in Home Assistant the switch completely stops working. Iv been trying all day and cannot figure out what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes those switches state a requirement for a minimum load for them to operate

Without they won't work / you would need to install a resistor to act as such. Their installation manual should state how to do that if that is an option with your selected ones

yeah, most likely this. the way they get power without neutral is a bit awkward and they need some power to actually be flowing to extract power.
