#IKEA Styrbar Remote E2001/2002 buttons not working over Z2M

I am aware of the change introduced to z2m removing the sensor.*action entity with the 2.0 update, however I do not think that’s part of my issue.

Instead there seems to be no communication at all from the remote’s side looking at the styrbar remote’s topics using MQTT explorer. Only data seems to be the battery percentage, firmware version and identify entities during pairing.

I’m using the original rechargeable ikea batteries that came with the remote.

I’ve tried several blueprints using the new triggers instead of the action entities, but none of them work. What is happening?

Tried new pairing close range to coordinator?

i think device is asleep. try pairing with coordinator and keep pressing buttons on remote.

Hi, maybe the remote is paired directly with some other device as a bulb?

bought a styrbar a week or two ago, pain in the (missing word) to pair hence it was bundled with a bulb. (the only way to acquire a styrbar atm at ikea)

after deleting device in z2m i did a factory reset and paired next to coordinator.

i have the feeling it goes to sleep mode before interview has finished.

FWIW I have about 5 Styrbars, most bought in a bundle with some GU10s. Never given me any trouble on ZHA. The only niggles of note is long presses on the side buttons generate an “up”. I think that’s a firmware thing and not ZHA. Overall they are awesome. Got one on the same batteries since 2.5 years ago.

on a friend's machine it was painless too in zha, for me using z2m it was not so easy

Don’t know a lot about z2m but it’s odd that ZHA and Z2M don’t just continuously learn the best from each other IYSWIM.
