I’ve recently purchased a house that has an electric garage door.
I want to add some form of home assistant integration so I can control it using a scene switch. Currently I have to use the fob to open or close it.

I would like to keep the fob if possible, and add an additional control method.

The setup I have:
Control box wired directly to 240v socket on the wall
There are 4 wires outputting
Earth
Neutral
Live (up)
Live (down)

I’ll post some photos, but wasn’t sure if anyone had any guidance on what I can use to control it!

Can’t use something that will take over the buttons as they are attached via ribbon cable to the front of the control box!

A friend has pointed out to me that on the back of the cover it points out a section for an external switch🤦🏽‍♂️
So will test that today and go with a simple relay to trigger it

that's how I did it with my garage door

just a relay and esphome

A simple relay in parallel with the garage door button works fine.

Tested it today, just need to jump the gnd and then either up or down
So probably use a Shelly 2PM for it
Unless anyone else has a recommendation?

I can share my esphome yaml code in case you're interested. But you'd have to tinker with the hardware a bit, do you know how to solder?

I recall someone mention using the switch input on a Shelly, but decoupling it from the relay and then connecting the switch input to a reed switch that senses if the door is closed or not. That would allow you to know if the door is open or not. It may be a bit more difficult to know if the door is partly open, ie. not completely open or closed, but that is another issue. What I saw covered an opener where the same contact acted as both an open and close toggle. The OP's has separate open and close contacts, so I don't know. I suppose 2 separate Shelly relays would have 2 different switch contacts, but anyway, I'm rambling now...
