Adaptive lighting does it well for me. Lights are minimum on when I need to go to the toilet.
You can, in your actions in the automations, set the brightness according to the time of the day, too.
I have a helper for "house mode" that changes between settings depending on time of day and some other stuff. then other automations get switched on/off or work differently depending on the mode.
although this solution is probably not for everyone...
Mine is pretty basic and not smart enough for yours, mainly scheduling states although those modes for light dimming levels sounds like a good one to try. Can you elaborate how you assign those modes and have them configured as it may help OP and my needs.
this is the automation that handles changing of the mode based on various triggers
day at sunrise
evening at sunset or if it gets below illuminance level
late evening at 2230
night at midnight
then this one sets various things based on what setting is on
