#Prime Day Megathread

Aquara seems to have a couple of reasonable offers this year around. Mostly on their sensors but also a bit on camera stuff.
Reolink may also be worthwhile this time around. Do price check with them as they usually do the sketchy +-10$ fake discounts; however I do not recall having see their 12mp line for less than 85 bucks for a while
Ecowitt got their weather station back to around 200$ which is nice
Hue got a bit of stuff but that's not too impressive
well i do need to give my family a birthday gift suggestion list ๐
I was suggested to look at esphome components but im stuck :P
is it me or does it feel like for some sensors, it is cheaper actually to just buy from a random brand on amazon than to actually build yourself?
I guess I can look into sensors for electricity usage, maybe water usage too? If we do a thermostat we might as well just buy a nest thermostat for the sake of the ecosystem we have
maybe i should just shut up and make another thread, to possibly gain more attention?
now its down to only double the price of other regular things that aren't on sale! /s
Sonoff lists their ZBDongle-E for 20 bucks which does not seem bad
i'd love to find a smart thermostat that is completely free of any apps ro cloud sites to control it, local access only, including the initial setup... anything like that still around? Likewise for a robotic vacuum that does NOT talk to anywhere outside my home, even for setup...
unicorns that kinda do not exist

Probably not the right place to reply (sorry)
But this is if you have openTherm compatible boiler or just a Shelly relay
they do if you make it yoursefl!
indeed!
Sigh. I guess ulterior motives can't be avoided anymore, and the costs of everything now also includes selling your privacy. It does sound like this should be a discussion in the hardware forum then. I do like that euro styling though that @dim ermine pointed to.
there are diy options.. I'm building a pcb to control air handlers.. tho its 24VAC based and such.. so US-nonsense-based and etc..
Dutch Mediamarkt offering the second hue bulb for half the price.
I bought a couple of keyboards because I keep wearing the letters off the cheap ones I buy. That's what prime days are good for in my world.
why not buy something with regular double shot keycaps
human fingers arent as good of wearing away plastics than they are with paint ;D
Find any zwave thermo
brilliant. found some, even one that promises multistage control on zwave8, without daring to give away any important details of course lest we should ever wonder if we need 8 wires or 4...
very clearly I need to finish my boards.. and sell them
๐ esp32 8 outputs, 4 inputs for control.
I have used honeywell in the past and the current one I have is a Venstar t4700. zero outside connectivity
as usual the critical details are sparse in the advertising... most that i found kept their connections and wiring needs secret. so buy only what you can return.
I've had solid success with the venstar. It's an ugly unit but it works ๐
had those at work years ago. It connects to WiFi, but i wonder why it needs a bridge to allow connection with home automation. What does the bridge do? Often it implies bridge to cloud...
