TTS Piper to HAOS media player

I've been scouring for resources for over a month now. I see ways to configure Wyoming Satellite, using Sonos for audio output via custom firmware, etc., but I can't find anything specific for my setup.

What I have:

1. Ubuntu host
2. HAOS kvm
3. Voice PE for audio input
4. Wyoming Whisper for STT
5. Piper for TTS
6. Audio pass-thru
7. VLC media player output to HAOS audio device - my speaker connected to host - this works fine (i.e. I can play media from HAOS and my speaker outputs audio

What I want is:

1. speak to Nabu Casa Voice PE
2. HA to do the conversation thingy
3. Piper to output audio to VLC media player - in theory this should then play on connected speaker

Has anyone tried this before? Any lead/suggestion will be appreciated!

P.S. I can also have Piper on host if that will make this setup work. Right now I'm using Piper Add-on.

perhaps i am not fully understanding. but it sounds like you have speakers plugged into your HA server and want to output the voice to there? why not instead plug the speakers into the VPE?
