How to use Groups (living room, bath...) as trigger for automations

Hello,

I want to make a Automation for example when a light in group "living_room" turns on then turn on a plug.

But I can not figure out how to use Groups as trigger.
In my two Screenshots you can see what I already tried but it dosent work. Can somebody please tell me how I can get it to work or if it works in general?

A light group is also an entity to itself, so you can trigger/control on that.
You could also give the lights a common label and use that as a control entity and it would span the light group and the plug for control.

If I understand that right you mean give all the Lights a Label?

I tried this but when I look in the Automation under entity the Label is not there, and also the group is not there

You can check that entity in ->States

Group, yes

Label will be in the labels thing and visible in each entity it's attaches to. https://my.home-assistant.io/redirect/labels/

Ok interesting, I can not see the group in States

I typed it in manually, i did not choose it from the drop down menu

Ah well I see my mistake now, I said Group but I meant Areas sorry!

In my mind swapped areas with groups, sorry, I think I can solve the problem myself

Well don't miss that if you put the lights and the switch with the same label, you can just tell the label to turn on anf off. Might simplify things...
