Hi all,

Has anyone setup the Home Assistant (ZBT-1) with a VM running on Synology NAS that might have a tutorial they can share pls?

I have a Synology 423+ with the latest version of DSM but I cannot see how I can configure the ZBT-1 dongle in DSM or the VM itself.

My understanding is that DSM7 does not support USB anymore but this can be changed with a scheduled task that fires at start up. I have done this and I know it works as I can now plugin a USB drive.

I have the ZBT-1 plugged in the front of the NAS (long extension) but nothing shows up in DSM as far as I can see and there's nothing obvious in the running VM settings - I'm new to NAS so this could well be user error 🙂

Appreciate this may well end up being more of a Home Assistant forums questions so I will post on there as well.

Also I suppose more generally was plugging in a dongle (zigbee/z-wave/thread) never going to work with DSM running a VM?

Regards
Dave

can you perform a google search for:> how to install and configure sky connect ZBT-1 to Synology 423+ NAS < first topic from google has the tutorial

#

involving driver setup, script etc.

#

this is what ai says in short: To install and configure a Home Assistant SkyConnect (ZBT-1) on a Synology DS423+ NAS, first, install the Docker package from the Package Center, then enable SSH on your NAS. Next, enable the cp210x driver for your Synology NAS using a script provided by Robert Klep, then plug in the SkyConnect and map it to the Docker container in the Synology UI to use it with Home Assistant.

Don't like AI, but i am not familiar to vm on nas.
