#Unable to disable return to first view
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Further information, app was reinstalled and bypassed Caddy via direct IP and also tried a fresh install of HA even checked to make sure unrestricted battery was enabled.
It also feels like the page isn't cached correctly
Issue persistent on 2025.9.2-minimal
Android app debugging logs says this a lot.
09-29 09:37:39.116 6219 6219 E mpanion.android: Invalid resource ID 0x00000000.
if the app has crashed it will load the first view by default
safe to ignore
App isn't crashing unfortunately
so if you swipe to one view and go home and go back to the app it immediately goes back to the home screen?
or does it go back to the home screen after sometime?
Only if I leave the app in Dashboard does it go to the first view of that dashboard, if I goto any other tab other than dashboards on the left hand side it goes back to those
I even toggled "Always show first view on app start" on and back off...
ok try and start fresh to avoid auto back up restoring potential bad data....maybe something corrupted is going on. https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/troubleshooting/faqs/#starting-fresh-with-the-android-app you shouldnt need to toggle the setting as its off by default
Still occurs after force stop, clean data and cache. HA delete all phones and reboot then connect again.
Rolled back to 2025.7.1 and issue still persists
can you check in chrome for android on the same device to see if it persists there too? wondering if theres a potential custom card causing the issue as i dont see the issue here
How do I test? open HA in chrome and in any view in "Overview" dashboard other than first view and close tab and reopen home assistant in chrome?
dont close the tab put the app to background and bring to foreground again like you did previously
were you closing the app previously? or swiping it away?
The app I was closing and swiping (unloading app)
then you should expect the app to always load teh first dashboard, the app needs to stay in memory in order for it to keep where it last left off
that setting in particular is for when the app is kept in memory to always go back to first view, some users just like that so for them if they put app in background by going to home screen when they come back the app will go back to the first dashboard
but if you are closing and/or swiping away from recent apps then you should expect the app to reload again
