#Which Shelly?

How do I know which shelly device to use smart home automation?

E.g. if I wanted a Zigbee model to make a bathroom extractor fan smart, how do I decide which model to get?

So far it seems like Shelly has cornered the market for smart home enthusiasts with a BSc or better in electrical engineering 🙁

This is for the UK if it matters.

Shelly has a "shop by technology" section in their sidebar under Products

Thanks

My message probably wasn't clear, I've found the ZigBee devices, but don't know which ones are suitable for a socket driving e.g. an extractor fan, oven, light, washing machine, computer

I'd consider non-zigbee models if theyre the right ones for the jobs, but have no idea which ones would be

Generally none and all of them

You usually go by current and wether or not you need to be able to switch the device on and off

#

This very much depends on your devices specs

#

For the oven, washing machine and likely the extractor, a monitoring only solution is kinda the way

I've found the power usage (240V I think as I'm in the UK) for a few of my devices:

Washer dry power: 1900 - 2250 W (Wash) / 1000 W (Dry)

Bathroom extractor fan 3.2W

Other than the washer, the others are within an 8A rating, no?

Another question while I'm at it, can clamps be installed inside/behind plug sockets (like the relays/Shellys are)?

I presume a relay provides the ability to control power flow (e.g. on/off), so without a relay you get a read-only sensor of power usage, but no ability to control it.

Besides the oven and the washer I do think the other stuff should work
