#best way to group different device types (on/off)

i want to create a group not specifically a group helper, just anything which lets me turn on and off a group for the lack of a better word of lights and switches which are all really lights but dont have a light entity domain.

is it smarter to make every light a light entity via a helper or do you think that creating a scene for all outside lights might be smarter?

what i want is to have a single entity which controls eg. all outside lights (which arent light entities (yet))

if there was a way to have a entity which controled all lights in an area that would also work i guess

im already using lables for organization, and in sure this could work but labels dont create a entity which i can expose to the assist to or use in a automation to turn that are on or off

You can target a label in an automation

If the devices are currently using a switch entity, you can convert them to a light using the change device type of a switch helper

#

After doing that, you can create a light group helper

# dry lagoon After doing that, you can create a light group helper

this is exactly what i have done and now in starting to see the problem with this, which is that the groups im creating are the exact same as the areas i already have... this isnt really something which is currently possible but it would be really nice to have an entity which controls all say lights in an area or at least a template which filters all lights out of an are into one clean light entity

Why would you need that? In automations you can target an area, and with voice commands you can also target an area

#

Why would there be an entity for that?
