#Adding second Z-Wave hub replaces the first

I'm trying to have two separate Z-Wave networks running. I have two PIs with Z-Wave JS UI running with their respective controllers. These are separate from the the PI running HA. Both are set up to run over WebSockets. I was able to add the first one easy enough. When I try to add the second I get a message "Device is already configured" and the second hub replaces the first. I can re-complete the add process with the details for the first and it does the same thing replacing the second.

Hub #1 is running a ZWA-2 connected to a P44, running an up to date (September 25 2025) Rasbian light 64bit with a Z-Wave JS UI docker image. It has and IP of 10.0.4.1 and hostname zwavepi1.home.arpa. WebSocket is up on port 3000 with MTQQ currently off

Hub #2 is running a Zooz 800 LR controller also on a Pi4, also Rasbian light 64bit updated at the same time with a Z-Wave JS UI docker image. It's IP is 10.0.4.2 hostname is zwavepi2.home.arpa. WebSocket is up on 3005 and MTQQ is also off

Both run different sets of keys.

The rational for the two networks is that both are located in large metal clad buildings. and previous attempts to set up mains powered devices in the nearest points of the two structures did not allow devices on either side to reach across to the other. I do have some CAT6 between the buildings thus two separate controllers.

Previously only hub #1 was running via the Z-Wave JS UI addon but I tried setting things up as completely separate Pis in an attempt to see if the issue would resolve that way. This also let me put the ZWA-2 in a better spot for coverage, though it still doesn't reach outside faraday cage of the building.

If I can get this working I may add a third to hub to reach another building that is also metal clad. The property is a working Farm so the buildings are all covered in metal siding and roofs, but I do have network wiring between the buildings. These buildings even have their own separate electrical services.

"Device is already configured" would mean the z-wave network added is the same. Sure you're inputting the different host IPs?

#

I just tested and was (still) able to add two different networks.

Very sure they are different IPs, each network has different devices and once added the list of connected devices changes to reflect that network's list

How are you adding the 2nd one?

#

What does Z-Wave JS UI say the home IDs for each are?

Ah ha, the Home ID was the trick. The Zooz controller was surplus after upgrading to the ZWA-2, and hadn't been reset after been taking out of service. So both controllers had the same Home ID. A little factory reset on that controller and I know have two seperate hubs showing up.

Thanks for the help

Just a quick question - is there a limit to the number of hubs you can add? Looking for a large ranch - we have similar needs - network is everywhere but zwave will not cover the 2500 acres, so multiple hubs would make things much easier.
