Heyo! This is not a problem. I'm really just looking for advice. I want to start integrating Zigbee into my HA systems and I'm torn between going with the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro and getting the USB Zigbee Dongle.

My server is in a closet and it will likely be in a garage in future. So the it would be great if the hub was more central. However, I have not yet flashed Tasmota onto anything and am wondering about the risks and stability.

Any opinions would be very welcome!

Get the SLZB-06 and put it somewhere central

oh damn that's everything all in one. I presume no flashing required?

I don't know why you mentioned tasmota at all 🤔

#

You just need the SLZB-06 and zigbee2mqtt (or zha)

The ewelink device I was considering depends on cloud. If I flash Tasmota I can bypass the cloud

Which device?

Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro

I mean which ewelink device

Yea sorry. Sonoff tends to rely on the eWeLink app. I confused the names.

Regarding the SLZB-06 do you have any opinions between that model and the SLZB-06M?

I have the version without the M and it works really well

Looks like the M is just for Matter expansion. I know whe're slowly heading that way but I doubt I'll have a full matter setup any time soon

#

Oh also I'm stupid. Matter just works with HA already so I don't need to care about that

Thanks for all your input!

the SLZB-06 uses a Texas Instruments chip which was the preferred chip for Z2M for many years. The SLZB-06M uses a Silicon Labs chip that has good Thread support, and also works well ZHA and also with Z2M with the current "ember" adapter.
