#RPI Imager with NVME: Partition does not have FAT file system

My RPI5 is now correctly configured to boot on nvme, but the RPI Imager shows this error message when installing home assistant. SHould I change anything to my NVME, like, should I create FAT partition manually, or should I just ignore it?

EDIT: this is a false-positive message, just ignore it.

I'm guessing the NVMe was used as data disk only? Can you share the message?

The message is exactly the one in the title, I'll re-plug the nvme to my pc and re-install HA on it to be sure

If the HAOS image is flashed on it it should have 8 partitions including a fat one.

format nvme, connect keyboard, no sd card but network inserted. It will boot up with pi imager, from there you select home assistant for install.

I don't have a pi but here's an example from a OVA install

# lsblk -oNAME,LABEL,FSTYPE
NAME LABEL FSTYPE
sda
|-sda1 hassos-boot vfat
|-sda2 squashfs
|-sda3 erofs
|-sda4 squashfs
|-sda5 erofs
|-sda6
|-sda7 hassos-overlay ext4
`-sda8 hassos-data ext4

Ah, but I also need a screen^^ but will do

#

My nvme is not longer detected by my pc, I hope plugin it with my RPI didn't broke it...

devout parcel
#

i think that your trying to access from windows, out of the box windows cant read linux filesystems

#

format from pi imager

timid crown
#

Then check lsblk -o+FSTYPE,MODEL.

#

You use a USB to M.2 adapter, right?

clear hornet
#

And I installed HA two times on it and it worked

#

pluging it to the RPI is really the thing that made it invisible

#

I may have just killed a 4TB nvme 🤡

timid crown
#

Hopefully not but why do you use a 4TB disk for HAOS?

clear hornet
#

well I firstly wanted to use it as additional space for my pc, then I realised I didn't really needed more space (already 6TB on it)

#

So it was just unused since then

timid crown
#

Ah. HAOS tends to make a poor NAS though. Try dmesg -Tw, then plug the adapter in and see what happens.
You can also run watch -n1 lsblk -o+FSTYPE,MODEL and then do the same.

NVM, it's just my usb port that did shit, I now detect it

#

I changed usb port

timid crown
#

Might have needed too much power.

clear hornet
#

And rpi imager was lying, there is a fat partition

devout parcel
#

that b*tch

#

😉

clear hornet
#

I still reinstalled HA on it to show you the error:

devout parcel
#

now you handled power issue, try install from pi imager after formatting drive in pi imager

clear hornet
#

But since it has all the required partitions, I could just try running it on my RPI no?

devout parcel
#

try

clear hornet
#

How can I he certain that it correctly boots? It displays something if I plug a screen?

devout parcel
#

yes

#

you see haos cli and login details when ready

clear hornet
#

It seems up and running, I just have to plug a rj45 cabble

#

So the RPI imager message is totally a false-positive:

reboot afterwards

so up&running now?

yeeee configuring it 😋 thread already marked as solved
