I have a new digital electricity meter with P1 meter (homewizard) and integrated this into HA, now I want to replace my shelly CT meter with this one in the energy dashboard but when I remove the shelly meter, I lose ALL historical data ???
How can I switch these without losing data and without having to remove the shelly and renaming my P1 meter to the shelly name (this is not a preferred outcome since I' d like to keep the shelly in HA)
Same applies for the gas meter...
#new electricity meter, use new meter without losing data of old one...

Just make sure the new meter has the same entity ids as the old one. Then everything will transfer over
You don't have to remove the shelly meter if you want, you could also leave it there and just have two sources.
but then i'd have to rename my homewizard entity to shelly_import_meter .. isnt that a weird way to fix this ? is there no elegant way to do this ?
Once the statistics are transferred you can change the name to whatever you like
but wont the statistics go with the shelly entity when I change its name prior to giving the homewizard entity the old shelly name ? (if that makes any sense..)
Statistic get moved if you change an entity_id to another entity_id that isn't already present in statistics.
If you want to rename without moving statistics, I think you have to unintegrate/delete the device, and then re-integrate it as a new entity id.
Wow, seems like something that should be looked at 🤣 hardly a user friendly way to go about this...
Will try and report back, thanks for the quick assist 😉
Would disabling the old device also work or do I need to remove it entirely ?
Well you could just keep your old entity. You don't have to transfer anything
tried it, but did not work, all data was gone after deleting and only came back after re-adding the device and adding it back to the energy dashboard config
somehow after deleting the device and restarting ha it still carried the data on that specific entityid, without it being shown in the entities list
stats data is never deleted unless you delete it manually
don't remove it from the energy dashboard config
because nobody has done the work to make it better
logical.. just seems strange to be doing all kinds of aesthetic improvements when there's things like this still unresolved
feel free to help
If I had the skills I would 🤣 but seeing how much trouble I'm having fixing this there's no chance I'll be able to help 😉
