For the life of me, I cannot get my phone sensors to update periodically. I've turned on background access, I've set the sensors to update every minute, but it's just not happening. What could I be missing?

This phone, is just a bedside panel, so it never leaves the home network. I have it on a smart plug to manage power at certain percentages. When I toggle the power on and off, it reports instantly. But when i'm just letting it sit it seems to be 5 minutes or not at all. i'll check logs!
