Hello! I’ve had HomeKit for a while, but I’ve decided to leave the walled garden of Apple, it’s just becoming too expensive. My parents use Androids, so I set up their house with Google Home, and got pretty impressed.
So, long story short, I know Google isn’t #1 on their smart home support either, but I’m making the switch. I plan to run Home Assistant on a thin desk I have (which I did to create the Home Bridge server) so I’ll be good there. I just need a hub that’s supporting thread/matter, etc.
I’ve gotten by fine with a HomePod mini for years, so I don’t have to have a screened hub. I’m just looking for the most practical option here. I’ve also seen the Echo Shows, I wonder if there’s a way to use android similar to firesticks and kodi in this way? Maybe I’m looking at this the wrong way.
