Hi! I'm looking for a budget video doorbell that I can connect to HA. It doesn't have to have on board recording functionality. Being able to record them on the server would be nice, but not a hard requirement. One thing i'd ask for is that it'd have a bell/speaker I can either connect to WIFI or use wirelessly upstairs. I can run power into it, and that's pretty much it, no ethernet or bell trigger connection (I don't even have one).

Third vote for the reolink doorbell. But don’t go for battery powered. Either PoE, off AC bell voltage if you have it, or via the included DC jack. I store my videos on a local FTP server (same box as runs HA). Works great, a year in and no problems whatsoever.

Read the installation manual for how to install it

I see there are some tuya options, but apparently some of them do not have ONVIF integration. Are there any guides on which one to look out for?

# steel spade Can I do regular AC, just wire it up to a socket?

It comes with a power brick you can plug into a regular socket. You can’t hardwire it directly off a 110/230V etc AC socket’s wiring if that’s what you mean

It also comes with a chime that works over… I think 900MHz? So it works even if your WiFi goes down, but you can also trigger it from home assistant

It has on-device recording, or you can get a Reolink NVR or set up Frigate or Blue Iris or similar

I’ve been super impressed with mine

On chimes: I tried with 2 different regular radio bells to get it to link to them (many others report this works) but I gave up and bought a second official chime. They are not particularly loud.
On video: I use ftp. Works great to a local FTP server which you can backup to remote machines etc. I find the local AI perfectly adequate so don’t see a need to hold the stream open with Frigate or similar.

I just use a couple of $10 Zigbee chimes from AliExpress and they work great alongside the official chime
