Im a super noob and trying to move my z-wave devices over to my new HA Green and am confused. The HA Green documentation says it is a z-wave hub but then I see many people talking about using z-wave dongles. Can I use my HA Green as a standalone z-wave hub, or do I need to get a USB dongle? Could I just keep my SmartThings hub and use that as a z-wave bridge?
#Z-Wave dingle necessary for HA Green?

You need a USB controller
Dang, thanks for that info. So guessing I will also need to pickup a zigbee and threads dongle as well? Wish they made that more obvious in the listing
You can add Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 to control Zigbee and Thread* devices, set up Home Assistant Cloud for voice assistants, and integrate third-party USB accessories to support other smart standards, such as Z-Wave or Bluetooth.
Sort of does say that.
Ah must have missed that in my excitement. Going to be a tough road ahead for me to learn this but i’m ready for the challenge. Wish me luck 😂 😭
All the HA hardware has dedicated docs too. https://support.nabucasa.com/hc/en-us/articles/25143653817501-Does-Home-Assistant-Green-have-Zigbee-Thread-Wi-Fi-or-Bluetooth
Anyways, a USB controller will be easy to add. You won't be able migrate directly from Smartthings Z-Wave though.
Thanks, so wow it doesn’t come with any receivers? So I need to get a BT, wifi, z-wave, zigbee, and thread dongle to get the major protocols up and running. So wild that I watched probably 5 noob HA setup instructional videos and none of them even mentioned the need for a dongle.
Yeah. That's the point of the Green I think. A basic starter system you can expand however you want.
Word thx guess ill have to wait another week for dongles to get in to get started.
You don't need to use every protocol
I only have (local) WiFi stuff and Zigbee
Hey, just figured I would throw in my 2 cent on this one. I tried thoroughly looking into this answer as well and the part @spring axle quoted does say you can integrate other standards but it is a bit ambiguous when a vast majority of the other comments make it seem like z-wave is included. That single line is the only reason i thought that it might possibly NOT be built in. I would think it would be more clearly stated like in the case of the Zigbee Connect. I think it is just the fact that they so clearly spell out that you need to add a zigbee controller that it just makes it seem like zwave is included.
