A while ago, I had several fans in my house and used the 14314 from Jasco/Enbrighten to control my fans over Z-Wave, with speed controls. They were awful, constantly breaking.

I moved to the Leviton ZW4SF, which looks like it's maybe being phased out? A bit difficult to find. They were always good to me, though!

Do you adjust your fan speeds with automation? What do you use? I am eyeballing either more ZW4SFs or the Innovelli, but the Innovelli is, as usual, pretty pricey.

The pre 2018 embrightens are not the same as the current ones. They had a major re-design and there have been good things said about them from users now. The old ones would tend to die when any power interruption happened. I wouldn't rule out the current models. Also look at Zooz. I've had good lick with them and they are a Works with HA vendor, so the updates are available thru HA and all the other things you get with that.

Zooz doesn't have any multi-speed fan controllers, only on/off relays. Inovelli doesn't make a Z-Wave fan controller anymore, you'd have to go with their Zigbee version. If the Leviton is being phased out (can still buy it at Home Depot though), then the only choice for Z-Wave would be Jasco (in the US). I have two old Jasco fan controllers (one Z-Wave classic), never had any issue myself, still running to this day.

I have a HomeSeer fan controller, also discontinued.

I could go with Zigbee. I probably need more Zigbee mains anyway. Almost all of my Zwave devices are mains devices as it is, so I'm not hurting for repeaters.

Could also go with Innovelli Matter fan controllers. I have almost no Thread/Matter devices yet...
