#What cheap UK smart plugs do you recommend for energy monitoring?

i have good results over a few years with cheap zigbee plugs from AliBahBah and (if you have IKEA in UK) the zigbee plugs from ikea, Retrakt or so.
Of course this means having a zigbee dongle/network
I've been around this particular block 😄
- Athom do ESPHome plugs, I've got a couple of the V1s and they have been rock solid. My only complaint is they aren't zigbee 🙁
- I have Tuya TS011F's - Honestly I dunno how Tuya got away with selling such a product. They have a firmware issue where they just turn themselves off, constantly. Some of the newer ones are improved, but I'm not quite sure how Tuya sleeps at night with that one, they are just broken. On the good side, they are cheap and I think if you buy a new one it'll probably work now?
- IKEAs energy monitoirng plugs were great, but they've stopped stocking them. FML
Because of how impossible it is to buy the ikea ones i have bought innr SP 242 and Sonoff S60ZBTPG.
I prefer the Innr ones but you need to make sure you update the firmware because the old version had some broken scaling the latest batch i bought came with the new version out the box.
They both cost about £12.50 each in a pack of 4
if you use tuya and other headaches, you can block internet traffic for those devices on your router. 😉
Avoid Tuya if you can
If you're using Zigbee - I've had some Meross ones for about a year now and they've been faultless - I use the HACS Merosslan integration
With ZigBee there's no need to use another integration apart from Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA, or I'm missing something? 🤔
as far as i know no you don't
running philips hue wrgb zigbee spots without integration, just z2m
though pairing can be a bit of pain in the derriere
depending on models and brands
No you're right - It was a long day. The Meross ones (at least the models I have) aren't zigbee - hence the MerossLAN addon
