Hi all,

Getting an electrician over to support with installing the sonoff switches but have no bridge in my 2nd floor. Is pairing only based on zigbee signal or based on the actual signal of the dongle/bridge?

If the device can see either the zigbee coordinator or any other zigbee router (mains powered device) then it should be able to connect to the mesh to pair. It doesn't have to be able to reach the dongle directly

If you arent sure whether there's good zigbee signal in that area then, for the sake of $10, it's probably worth grabbing a cheap smart plug or two to act as signal extenders during the install, to be sure the signal can definitely reach
