#Sonoff Temperature/Humidity Sensor Advice

Hello,

I’ve bought 4 of the Sonoff Temperature and Humidity Sensors and basically I’m trying to figure out the best way to connect them.

They use Zigbee so I foolishly assumed I could use my Hue Hub but it seems not.

The sensors will be spread out enough that they’re unlikely to be covered by one device that they connect to.

In terms of Hubs that I already own, I have a couple of hue hubs, the Aqara Hub and Eufy HomeBase 2 hubs. I’m not sure if any of these would work (I’m guessing not from the lack of success I’ve had) and so I’m after some advice as to what would be the best option. As I mentioned, I’ll likely need 2 to get the coverage for all the sensors.

I see there are various Zigbee Hubs and USB dongles so I’m not sure what to go with really. I’m not sure whether once paired for example, the sensors then just use WiFi or whether they need to stay in range of whatever they initially connect to.

Any advice is appreciated!

I'm new here, so take this with a grain of salt. My understanding is that Hue and Aqara don't support third party Zigbee devices, and Eufy doesn't do Zigbee at all. I just got one of these Sonoff temperature humidity sensors (SNZB-02D) and added it to my setup through the HA Connect ZB1-1 dongle attached to HA Green. Inclusion was very smooth.

These are pure Zigbee devices - they just use Zigbee and aren't going to switch to WiFi. I'd say try them out and see if you get the range you need. If not, you shouldn't need another hub. Adding a plug-in Zigbee device, like a light bulb, should extend your range. Zigbee is a mesh network, where plugged-in devices are automatically range extenders. To save battery life, battery powered devices are just endpoints, not range extenders.

Hi, the SMLIGHT SLZB-06 works perfect with Zigbee2MQTT. As said, any ZigBee smartplug act as a repeater or net extender. Ikea ZigBee ones works perfect too 🙂

SNZB-02P is decent as well. I have 3 of those. Just dumps those hubs, you don’t need or want them with HA.

the SNZB-02P has worked fine for me with Z2M had no issues apart from one of the four i have says it has a firmware update available but refuses to update
