#Ready-to-Use Devices for Home Assistant Voice

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using the Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition (Voice PE). I really like the device, but the microphone sensitivity is too weak for my use case – it only picks up commands when I’m very close.

I’m looking for a ready-to-use alternative: a device with both a microphone and speaker, where Home Assistant Voice (Assist) can run directly out of the box (similar to the Voice PE, but with a better mic).

Does such a product exist, or is the Voice PE still the only plug-and-play option at the moment?
Any recommendations for hardware that works reliably without a DIY setup would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance 🙏

as far as i know there is currently work done on a 4 mic array and new voice protocols.

but could be wrong, dont pin me on this one 😉

have you set the mic sensitivity in dashboard? and automate volume ducking on players after detection of wakeword.

personally, i very much like the 2mic respeaker lite from seeed, running respeakerlite software from FormatBCE.

Yeah Respeaker Lite works for me - but i don't have PE so can't compare. Buth use XU316 for microphones, so it should be comparable.
However, Respeaker Lite isn't ready-made. It's dev kit, so you will need to solder, print and buy parts at least a bit. 🙂
There's also SATELLITE1, but it also requires printing/assembling.
Firmware for new Respeaker XVF3800 is under active development right now - but again, that's just board, no peripherals, speaker or case.

@minor light i didn't know how to set microphone sensitivity. There is only finish speaking and wakeword sensitivity
