Hey! What hardware would you recommend for triggering a garage door opener button?
I’m considering a fingerbot, but I’m unsure which one to buy (advice/link to product you can buy in Sweden/europe appreciated!). I want to use zigbee (mqtt) or WiFi (without extra hub) only.
Attached pics of the buttons inside, maybe it’s possible to trigger with something else? I have very limited knowledge of electronics 🙁

Happy for any advice! Thanks!!

For device no advice, but go for zigbee instead of wifi..

Zigbee relay??

You could use something like a Shelly to do what this button does on the garage door opener itself (close a circuit momentarily) instead of the button

Okey! What Shelly product could do that? I don’t know what to look for? 😄 thanks in advance 😃

Shelly 1 would be a good choice

i would go with a shelly plus uni, it has 2 relays(one for opening the garage door) and 2 inputs to add a door sensor for both the complety open and completely closed state

#

also while you are there you can just hook up a temp / humidity sensor to it. And also your garage door opener already has 12V or 24V power out, so you can just hook it up to that directly, no need for an external power supply

#

tell me the model number of the garage door opener itself and i can help with the wiring

Out of curiosity, what benefit would using two contact sensors (for fully closed and fully open) be as opposed to a single contact sensor for open / fully closed?

#

Apart from an opening state I suppose

if you stop it mid-way it for example it would still report as open or closed depending where you placed the sensor

#

if you have two, you can have an additinal "in motion" state(if both sensors are telling you its open for example)

Yeah that's fair. IMO the additional complexity of that wouldn't be worth it

i mean you need to wire up the sensor anyway and for the closed state you can mount it next to the motor so its a short route for the wires 🙂

#

but yes usually 1 is enough but if you have the option, why not

#

tilt sensor might be the simplest though, thats a single sensor and you have all the data

i can't seem to find a proper wiring diagram for this model to see where is the 12/24V power output is, but the push button input is the 1 & 2 terminals:
