#ZBT-1 Range

I have a ZBT-1 for my home assistant (I'm using HA Green) and the range of it is simply not long enough to reach everywhere I need to reach. So I'm wondering if people could recommend a stand alone zigbee hub that will work with Sonoff, and Thirdreality sensors. I did buy a 3rdreality smart plug repeater, which almost gets me the range I need, but I'm wondering if buying another one of those and using it to extend the range is better than getting another hub, which I guess would show up as another device on my home assistant.

The recommendation would be to get an Smlight SLZB-06 series device. That contains a zigbee radio which home assistant can use, but it can be connected (ideally via ethernet) somewhere else in your building.

the SLZB-06M has the same type of radio chip as in the ZBT-1

you would replace the zbt-1 with this device. You should be able to migrate the entire zigbee network over from using the ZBT-1 as a coordinator to using the new device as a coordinator.

So you think that this device would have a much longer range?

the range will be slightly better, but zigbee isn't designed for long range. The idea with the SLZB-06 is that you can move it to a different place in your building where it is closer to more devices and further away from interference.

if you have just one device that's far away, and you can't put anything "in the middle", then it won't help unfortunately

Because it has a mesh network, apparently

yes, smart plugs and smart bulbs will build a mesh for zigbee, acting as repeaters to make the range longer

So then I could maybe just get another smart plug rather than having to set up a whole other system.

yes, if you have power plugs available in between the far away device, then adding some more smart plugs is usually the easiest way to fix the problem.

Sweet! Thanks for the info.
