#WiZ Integration and connectivity problems

Over the last few days, I have experienced sluggish to non-responsive communication with my WiZ bulbs. I have determined that the problem is on the vendor side.

I saw a post somewhere stating that there is an issue with WiZ's infrastructure at datacenter U38. I don't know which data center in the world they are referring to. WiZ says all their other systems are working.

I'm in the US. If this specific data center is a regional data center, it may also be a regional dependency.

The Matter connection from HA to the Wiz bulbs works as expected. Unfortunately, for me, I have been using WiZ bulbs for many years, and only two are new enough to support Matter. That's an "Ugh" for me.

This is an example of a case supporting the option of local communication and control as a viable alternative for IoI devices.

Do you have local control enabled for the lights? The WiZ integration uses local control

Let me check. Some of my lights are at least 3 years old and do not have the latest features.

I cannot find where I can change a setting to "local control" in the mobile app or in HA. I have two of the latest bulbs that support Matter, configured in the HA. They are reliably working because their cloud registration and control are out of the picture.

The docs have steps here, but it's possible it's outdated

I found it in the Mobile app, at least. It's on.

These Wiz bulbs are a slight pain for me, a major pain for my wife, which then becomes my pain.

I tested a bulb by shutting off the power and turning it back on.

I was able to then control it in the app. However, I have no way of knowing if the communication is local or cloud-based.

---Maybe WiZ's fixing the issue as I type

Does the WiZ integration in HA communicate only through a WAN connection to their Cloud?

Checking other bulbs before the wife gets back home....
