I have great experience with Shelly plugs
Which Shelly model did you try? Did it ever fail?
Of course they failed. 1 liter of water killed 1, me trying to flash ESPhome on another fried it. But the ones I did not touch are performing fantastically. Personally my only reason to switch away if that I don't like WiFi and prefer Zigbee.
I mainly use the Shelly Plug S
My Zigbee go to is the IKEA one for EUR10
1 liter of water? I sense there is a good story there
What is the motivation to flash ESPhome?
Well it was brilliantly positioned directly beneath a kitchen sink which started to leak.
No real reason. I like ESPHome and it was possible. I still have shelly's with ESPhome flashed, mainly from older generations
How many and how long were the untouched in service?
I've got 4 untouched, 2 of which > 3y in service without a glitch
Would you characterize the untouched as reliable?
They perform as expected without fail?
I appreciate your responses
very reliable, work with HA out of the box, get regular firmware updates, have good wifi reception. would recommend
Ok. I will heed your recommendation. Please confirm this is the model?
Thank you
This is the model that I'm referring to, I have no knowledge/experience with any US products https://www.shelly.com/products/shelly-plug-s-gen3
