Hi, I have restarted by docker server and was not able to access the dashboard and was prompted to onboard again. Thinking that im able to restore it, i did the onboarding again. did not have the option to restore from backup when onboarding. i think the backend still works as my zigbee buttons still work. Logs still show the docker is still working. Now since i onboarded it again i'm unable to access my dashboard. any help is apricated. thanks!

1 Have you done a full reboot of host? 2 check internal network for possible issues... DNS/DHCP/NTP
3 check logs for errors
4 clear browser cache
So you run HA Docker? And for Zigbee you use ZHA, not Z2M?
Wasn't the first restart of the container ever, was it?
let me try to reboot the docker serve. and yes i use z2m.. i usually restart the server like once a month but this time I had an issue
tried rebooting still the same. logs on portainer show it's running..
but when i access the gui it shows me the newly onboarded instance
btw i had a backup ready. how can i have this restored?
if you use Z2M that's a separate container.
But you really run HA Docker, not HA OS? And you have a volume mapped to that container?
yes that's right
ninja edit :p
yes i have a volume
yes it's a container
do you sill see usefull data in that mapped volume?
all fine now?
no cant access the dashboard
it goes to the newly configure intance
so this is how it happen. i rebooted the whole docker server since it's really prompting me to initialize home assistant. i didnt see any option to restore from back up
so what i did next is to do the on boarding hoping i can see the backup and restore it.
but im not able to
yeah, if you did the onboarding then all the data in the volume shall be fresh aka not correct (just open automatiosn.yaml or something to see if it's empty)
you can restore the a backup. Settings => System => Backup => Show all backup => 3-dots => Upload backup. After which you can select it as backup te restore
all the yaml looks ok not over writen or something
when i go to backup option i dont see my backups
here is the compose config
homeassistant:
container_name: homeassistant
image: "ghcr.io/home-assistant/home-assistant:stable"
volumes:
- /opt/homeassistant/config:/config
- /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro
- /run/dbus:/run/dbus:ro
restart: unless-stopped
privileged: true
network_mode: host

Don't forget you can edit your post rather than repeatedly posting the same thing.
If the automations.yaml looks fine if you open it from /opt/homeassistant/config but in HA the list of automations is empty I would say the config volume is somehow not mounted correctly...
i think it's mounted correctly.. when I attach to the container and VI to any yaml file it's the same
aVery weird. You could try restoring a backup. But as HA is not seeing that as well I still think the problem is somewhere else. But you can upload a backup to restore
yes i have backups.. local and on my NAS.. i just dont have the option to upload which is very weird..
and i know HA is running zigbee button still turn on my lights.. i see logs that it's running.. i just cant access the dashboard..
are you now somehow run two containers with HA?
so i started experimenting i stopped the container.. but HA is still working
how to i check if i have a core install on my linux OS?
Check router to see dhcp leases, if ha is getting lease, then you know ip
ok it's a user error.. there was a core install on the actual OS..
so problem solved?
yeah.. notice it when i tried to check where the backup goes
Okido
sorry if of topic.. but is there like an application that can display notification on a linux device?
my friend Gemini AI says yes, with a few things to install. You could run companion app and get notifications. Do a google search for using companion app on linux device
