Anyone know how to make one of these vintage style dimmers smart? so that the dimmer knob works and it can be controlled remotely? maybe a shelly could do it?

I have a SM323 by Samotech behind the knob in my lounge. Very pleased with it. Even has power monitoring, though you have to make sure you get the later model. That’s a Zigbee part. Even has a remote button connection if you need it.

#

It’s even got my glowing review. That’s the one with the HA screenshot. 🙂

Disregard all of that. It seems they have retired the Zigbee model and now just have shitty Tuya junk. And Amazon think I bought one of those. Bloody hell. I wish I’d bought a spare as they are/were excellent. If you want to try your hand at a WiFi version then go ahead, but imo that kind of product has no business being attached to your WiFi network.

#

Can’t vouch for that. But it’s probably as good. I think I will email Samotech and enquire as to what they are doing re. Zigbee.
