I have fritzbox Wifi mesh.
Right now I have a Twinbus system to open the door and it doesn´t work anymore so I want an upgrade.
In one apartment, I want to connect it to my dashboard and in the other apartments just with an screen.

I am thinking about Akuvox E18C 🤔

Any idears, solutions, directions ❤️

Are the cables still ok or do you prefer another system? Do you want some decent HA integration or more some robust systems that do not rely on a working server? Do you upgrade the network anyways? So you want simple intercom or keypads / NFC / fingerprinnt entry?

I do have a two wire system for entry that additionally allows video over a long gone app. I have ring but that is only good for monitoring. So, I'll probably switch to unifi access. It can be integrated in home assistant but it even runs on batteries with just the UDM active. So, comfort in normal times, robustness in failure times.

Hey Astralix, thank you for the fast reply 😃
I am quiet sure that the cables still work.
I don´t have a server with HA yet, because the renovation of my apartment will start December. Than I want to build everything from scratch.
Face recogntition would be nice, but I dont need keypad, NFC or fingerprint.
I don´t want something with batteries.

Oh, misunderstanding!
Unifi Access is based on LAN and PoE. So everything is powered by the LAN cable. And to avoid being closed out on a simple RCD trip or such, Unifi supports APCs or USV as we say in German. So the important switches and the UDM Pro, the master router stays online and keeps your doors accessible. So if you remove everythinng and start fromm scratch, just put in a CAT 6a LAN cable and you are safe for everything. The Unifi system can be used solo on its own, can be paired with Home Assistant and also can get an AI integration. It can recognize number plates but I am not sure about face recon. Need to check myself. Colleagues of mine already use that system and I myself have now collected the initial system cost for the relatively big installation at my place. Several doors, several cameras, different access rights for family members and friends. But basically just put some good quality LAN cables everywhere and use some router that you can manage. So you can connect apartments but they cannot crawl into your network.

That is probably the most difficult thing, if you go with security over IP. With a Unifi UDM Pro that is more a quick thing to learn, with open source routers like PfSense it is much more detailed. I live in a former farm and I spread glass and copper through the whole thing. And I make heavy use of VLANs.

#

However, if you route all the network cables to a single place, and you put them into a nice cabinet, you can also just use the cables to the apartments and the front door to again connect an integrated but simple IP based door system from Amazon or AliExpress.

#

Or to keep it simple: With good cables you always can go back, but with bad cables you never can go forward 😅

Best quality for the price over simple 2 wires is Bticino
