Hello everyone, What is currently the best way to display a simple dashboard? No touch, no operation. Just display. Using a Pi 3 for this feels a bit wasteful. But would like to switch the display on and off via a motion detector.

How does motion detection work?

if you install fully kiosk on e.g. your tablet you will have access to camera or the motion/proximity sensors. they will be presented to HA using the fully kiosk integration. For more detailed setup options do a quick googly thing fully kiosk setup / kiosk moda HA
HA will create entities for the sensors you expose, then you can automate stuff
if motion detected > turn screen on
or proximity sensor activated, you can set the level in fully kiosk

Pi is not wasteful, it saves a lot of time. A stupid pi3 with a 3d printed casing and touchkio works like a charm!
