#Fresh Z2M install, everything is set up. Cant publish and listen to events in MQTT.

I have a user 'mqtt-user' set up in HA. Those credentials set in the 'MQTT' service. I am seeing 7 devices in the MQTT service.

When I go to configure in the service and try to listen to an event I cant get it to "Start listening". It just reloads the page quickly and nothing's working. According to ChatGPT it means it cant connect to the broker, but I have followed all the steps multiple times now. I am stuck..

It's broken

#

There's not really a reason to do that, though

#

If devices are showing up, it's working fine

my god, thank you for that. I thought I was going insane.

#

Problem Is now that I have to listen to events to find events when i press a button

That's not too bad. You can also use MQTT Explorer

#

Or just look at the history of the event entity

I am not sure how to look at the history. Can you point me in the right direction?

Every time I trigger an event, it shows up here:

2_single

Where do I find that window, @livid carbon ?

livid carbon

From the device page

#

It also shows the event_type right there

its not doing anything sadly when i press it.

#

Its in Z2M though...

You should go to the second tab there and see what it exposes

Not the buttons at all.

Action

Even though I have Home assistant Legacy actions

#

It doesnt want to populate the actions to Home assistant.

#

When creating an automation it only gives these triggers for the buttons:

#

Should i create a new topic for this problem?

I suggest yes. And focus on getting Z2M to report the right values before worrying about HA
