I have a UNVR from Ubiquity and I followed the guide at (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/unifiprotect) but when I am logged into my UDM Pro as an admin, there is no option to create an API, according the guide. So, can I create a API with UI protect version 6.0.53? I searched....

Make sure your user is a SuperAdmin, this role can only be given by the owner account of the Unifi system
once you are done with the API it seems possible you can then reduce the role again to only allow Protect...

I looked up how to make my UI HA user a super admin but I could not find a guide, could you list a guide or tell me how to do that?
Go to your Protect application in the browser (unifi.ui.com or local address) then click "Admins & Users" in the lower left hand corner, then find whatever user you created for HA access in the list of users and click on them. Then in the dialog pop-up, click the settings cogwheel and then check the "Use a Predfined Role" and change the role to "Super Admin"
I was able to create an API key but trying to add UI protect to HA does not work, what port number should I use because I have a UI UNVR that has its own IP address, no port needed to access it.
I guess it uses 443 then\
but I don't know the UI UNVR personally so I could be wrong...
443 did not work. I tried 0, that did not work either. Why is HA insisting on a port when my UNVR running protect (heck my gateway as well) only used and IPV4 IP address?
because TCP/IP (and UDP/IP for that matter) do not connect without a port
but I guess what we need to find out first is, what controls your camera's
is it the UNVR? cause then I think you need a API key on the UNVR...
not the UDM pro...
unless the UDM is running Protect, then it needs to be an API key on that device...
Thank you, you were right.
Yes it is working, thanks for your help.
