Hi i am facing issues with my Govee lightstrips that they automatically turn off after exactly 10minutes seems like standby or something but i DIDNT made any timer or else for these lightstrips cause i just bought them and plugged them straight in

Is there any known issue with Govee lightstrips? Is there straight at the beginning a timer set up?

im using mosquito broker and then the mqtt bridge for govee lightstrips cause the intregration wouldnt work on my side ( maybe someone also know why this isnt working )

Alright. Anyhow, yeah, unless it has the LAN option in the app, the built in integration won't see it in my experience.

#

And of course that option also has to be enabled.

red yacht
#

just see that
Im not turning them off
they just turn off automatically after 10 minutes using mqtt

shrewd flame
#

MQTT doesn't actively manage anything but the messages, so it's not at fault. Could something in the govee app be doing it?

im not using alexa

shrewd flame
#

Petro really likes to blame Alexa lol

wind furnace
#

it usually is alexa

#

what does the context show in HA?

red yacht
wind furnace
#

when the light turns off

red yacht
wind furnace
#

Right, HA will see that state change

#

so what does HA show for that state change

red yacht
wind furnace
#

go to logbook

#

Ok, so that context is empty

#

meaning the change is coming from outside HA

red yacht
#

Lol okay so its something in the govee app itself?

wind furnace
#

I.e. Look at the settings on the light itself

wind furnace
red yacht
#

no it does turn physically off also

#

thats really annoying lol

wind furnace
#

then it's likely something in Govee

red yacht
#

timer inside Govee are turned off
I actually start hating govee lol

wind furnace
#

I have no idea what that app is showing, never used govee

#

if you click on couch, there's no additional hardware settings?

red yacht
#

of course there is timer is top left corner in the grey box
But there is no timer set

wind furnace
#

click on the cog and show those parameters

red yacht
#

cog?

wind furnace
red yacht
#

should i turn on lan control

wind furnace
#

probably

#

I can't read... German?

red yacht
#

yes its german

red yacht
red yacht
#

because of matter an lan control

shrewd flame
#

LAN control should be on.

#

Otherwise you have to use Govee's API

#

Which is slower.

red yacht
wind furnace
#

well, that's because it was off 🤣

red yacht
#

No devices found in the network

wind furnace
#

You may have to manually add it

#

I have no idea if govee supports dhcp or ssdp or any of the other auto discovery methods

red yacht
#

ok i will just figure it out lol

But thanks a lot

wind furnace
#

nothing to figure out, just provide the integration with the IP for your device

#

99% of things in HA are not auto discovered

red yacht
#

thats what i do

#

and after that its scans

#

even if theyre turned on

#

nothing seems to come up

shrewd flame
#

IIRC you can't install the integration without it finding lights?

red yacht
#

yep

wind furnace
#

even more reason to avoid this hardware

#

is your light one of the supported devices?

red yacht
#

yep

wind furnace
#

update the firmware

red yacht
#

already done

#

?dump it in the trash lol?

wind furnace
#

is your device on the same network as HA?

#

auto discovery requires no extra vlans typically unless you know what you're doing

red yacht
#

so it should be, yes im using it via VLAN and the Vlan is passed through to HA

wind furnace
#

and if you separate devices into their own lan from HA, you'll run into issues like htis

wind furnace
#

put it on the same network and try again

red yacht
#

ok ok ill do it 😄
Thanks a lot for this and ill let you bth know ❤️

rustic sable
#

passing the vlan through to a ha vm... as a tagged vlan on the primary interface or as a separate network interface? does ha have a correct network configuration on that vlan?

red yacht
#

I have to pass a vlan to the ha vm

shrewd flame
#

Man the Govee API limits are WEIRD

red yacht
#

Govee itself is weird

#

i dont know why i cant find these lights

Opnsense and the vm allow the talking to both
But still nothing to see

red yacht
#

govee lgihts local just doesnt seem to work for me
It is defintly accessable in my network (sonos etc gets recognised)

shrewd flame
#

Want to know something weird. It didn't work for me either...2 weeks ago. Now it does?

red yacht
#

Thats super annoying lol

#

Is there maybe becasue of the automation something which i have to be aware of?

#

Current automation is that if tv on lights on

simple as that

tv off lights off

I had the same issue with my Govee Wall Sconse.
It's not HA that turns off the light.

I changed scene from sunset to Aurora-B today and now it has been on for two hours...
Could Govee made any changes to the default scenes?

red yacht
#

have you set up the "effect"scene yourself? How can i do this? Just enter the Effect into the effect name row of the light?

runic cobalt
#

I set it through a scene in HA.
If you add the entity to the scene you can then choose from the scenes that Govee provide.

By the way, I'm using the add-on Govee to MQTT Bridge to control my Govee devices.

red yacht
#

I do use the same add-on as you do
you might have a screenshot from that scene?

#

currently sitting here

runic cobalt
#

Here is a screenshot from my scene on the entity for my Govee lamp.
After enabling "Live Edit" in the Scene editor I can choose which effect/preset I want to enable.

#

It has been on for 6 hours now so I guess it was somesthing strange with the scene Sunset.

red yacht
#

got it
Thanks my guy

do i have to put them manually into automations?
Because i cant get it to work

@red yacht I had a similar issue with my lamp randomly turning off too, and Govee support told me to perform a factory reset for the device.

To factory reset the device, hold down the power button on the controller for 10 seconds. After that, reconnect the device to the app. If this doesn't resolve the issue, reach out to the Govee support for further assistance.

runic cobalt
#

Yes, I use the scenes in my automations.

For this particularly lamp I had the same issue.
Strangely it disappeared when I changed effect from Sunset to Aurora-B in the scene.

It was not HA that turned off the lamp after 10 minutes, it was something else.
Probably the lamp it self.

All my other Govee lights work with the effect Sunset so it's strange...
