Hello everyone,

I want to install HA into our house, and im wondering which hardware to run it on.

I am not planning on running cameras on it, purely connecting everything "smart" i have at home and automating some thing.

Budget max 150 euro, located in NL🇳🇱

the beelink s12 pro n100 system is currently £150 on amazon UK. i imagine it would be a simalar price price in EU. around the 150-170 euro mark. so on the high end of your budget

Also look on eBay for "old" office PCs, thin clients and (U)SFF machines.

I started with a Pi5 but switched to a n150 mini PC. The price is about the same or less than the Pi5 depending on what case and drive you get for the Pi. I could not get NVME drives to work reliably with the Pi5 using Home Assistant even though the same hardware ran fine on Raspberry Pi OS. The mini PC was harder to set up and I did have an issue with USB connections on reboot that I solved by using a powered USB hub. The advantage for me was how quickly text to speech and speech to text was processed. Everything else ran fast enough on the Pi5 (Except restarts, especially full restarts). The mini PC still takes a long time to reboot but not nearly as long. "Docker, you're going to have to wait for a whale!"

I'm also trying to choose a mini pc . I've got a recommendation to buy a Dell Wyse 5070, but I'm wondering if something like s13 would be better.
