#Keep getting disconnected

I have a HA Yellow, a Nabu Casa subscription and an Iphone 15pro.

I keep getting this error (picture) all the time, however automations work, also against wifi devices, so there must be something else then the wifi causing this.

The issue is the same whether i am local or not.

I have all the latest updates (non-beta)

Ideas?

Does the local access work (using local IP address and port :8123)?

Havent thought of that, will test next time it wont connect.

blazing cave

It does work locally while the app says disconnected.

Your HA server is disconnected from the service, I assume. The app has nothing to connect to

#

using the Nabu Casa URL

#

Check the Home Assistant Cloud page in HA settings

But if that was the case, wouldn't it be disconnected all the time, and not just every now and then?

This depends.
Are you testing the URL in a browser whenever this occurs in the app?

Yes, i have tested the 192.168...... url from my phone's browser, and that work's fine.
However i went over a lot of settings, and i found that both external and internal url's in "Companion app" still where my old duckdns url's, i changed internal to the Nabu Casa remote access, and external url to "home assistant cloud. So far it seems to have fixed it, but have only tested a couple of hours.

It have worked flawlessly for a couple of days now, so i think it is safe to say problem solved.
Thank you for your help.

I’m having the same issue randomly. Can you please clarify the differences in nabu casa remote access vs home assistant cloud? To me that means the same thing. I have my internal pointing to my local url and I believe external to the nabu casa remote access url. Every few months I go through a period of a few hours where I cannot access HA remotely. I’d like to change to home assistant cloud, but not sure how that differs from nabu casa remote access. Nabu casa account page remote access status says connected.

Afaik nabu casa = HA cloud.

surreal trout
#

It provides a secured URL to access your own HA server.

#

So that is "remote access"

I have that set and my remote access drops from time to time. Currently in one right now

The connection is initiated and maintained by HA through an outbound connection (which is why you don't have to forward ports). If the connection from HA to the Home Assistant Cloud services drops, then there will be no access until HA reconnects out, valiates the certificate stored on the system, etc.

#

So if there is anything in HA which might use up resources or interfere with this, you can have a lack of remote access.
A few things to check are:

  • custom integrations or custom frontend cards (these are not reviewed)
  • custom webrtc or go2rtc integrations which conflict with the built in webrtc integration
  • HA core logs. Download and check the full log for any kind of spammy or repeating errors which can be addressed.

Those settings are for informing other apps and services which URLs should be used to access HA, and do not determine how to access HA. But these should generally be the same thing.

They should both be set as addresses which can be used to reach HA in a browser, without seeing any kind of warning presented from the browser to continue forward. Usually the automatic setting is fine for this.

What are you seeing on the Home Assistant Cloud page in HA Settings?

#

The statuses there are more informative about HA's connection to the service, and the Nabu Casa URL certificate status

Yeah you are sharing what the companion app uses to connect to HA here right?
I'm referring to the settings on the Network page in HA itself.

#

You companion app is set to to use the cloud url. This is not working I assume in the app or in a browser.

Nabu casa website also has said connected all morning as well

#

Try a reboot of the system? (not a restart of HA) In the advanced options of the HA restart menu

#

Before you do that, the part that is missing is Integrations further below in your screenshot

#

It needs to be toggled on, and the URL needs to be visible, ready to be used.

#

Any other status means it won't be ready

#

@stone osprey what are you seeing there in the remote access section?

surreal trout
#

@stone osprey I saw your ticket. Is it timing out when you try to use the URL? Did you reboot the system?

stone osprey

Rebooting the system will restart all networking services. Restarting HA does not do this.

the app uses the same URL, no magic there. If it doesn't work in a browser, it's not going to work in the app
