So I'm looking to get more control over my Smart home, and I know that HAOS can run on a Raspberry Pi, but the newest ones are kinda stupidly expensive, and I don't want to spend $100 on a new Pi if I don't absolutely have to. I do have a Libre Sweet Potato that is currently sitting as a debain-based personal Git server, is there a way to use that instead for HAOS?

i dont recomend running on a raspberry pi anyway
by the time you get a rpi/case/psu/ssd-hat/ssd then you have better options for your money.
running HAOS on LSP is probably not going to be an option (or at least an easy one) but tbh just looking at the spec of the LSP, even if you did get it running then you would probably not have a good time.
I have a write up HERE about server hardware choice.
mini pc's are the popular thing but you could also look at older used thin client type systems too if you wanted something cheaper
for a pi class machine i would recommend at least a 4b 4gb or similar. i have had mine running (using sata ssd and a cheap usb to sata cable) 24/7 since the 4b came out.
it usually hovers around 2gb used memory, and that extra headroom is nice to have
I have my LSP running with 2GB swap to make things happy, but it probably would be underpowered for what is needed. I really don't have the budget to buy another new computer at the moment (just bought a mini PC for my music/development station). would something like a used HP Elitedesk 705 be "good enough" to get me up and running?
