Recommended approach to custom dashboards in 2025? | Home Assistant | Page 1

Sorry if this is something that gets asked a lot in here, but I tried searching and couldn't find anything concrete, so I'm hoping this is just a quick question.

What is the recommended way to build highly customized dashboards in 2025? Is it still via YAML, or should we do everything via the UI now? I see a lot of conflicting tutorials, etc., online, and I'm trying to avoid going down the wrong path. I'm just getting started in this journey.

If it matters, I'm a coder by trade, so doing things through YAML doesn't scare me at all, but I don't want to limit myself if going that route is no longer well-supported (as some seem to claim).

FYI, I'm not trying to start a debate on one versus the other; I just want to know if there's a general recommendation either way.

I do setup 90% of my Dashboard through UI. I only touch YAML for some card-mod and more obscure add-ons from HACS.

Many additional Cards from HACS also Feature UI config. Some might have additional advanced stuff in YAML but the trend heads towards UI Config.
