I’m looking for a hardware + integration solution to test in my garage — but NOT Zigbee.
Garages are often far from the main hub, or sometimes there’s no hub at all, so Zigbee isn’t ideal in this case.
In my setup, the garage is already wired with Ethernet (RJ45), so I could add a gateway if absolutely necessary, but I’d really prefer not to rely on that.
The idea is to test a Wi-Fi Matter-based setup, because it would be compatible with more installations and easily work with many small Matter-compatible devices.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
A Wi-Fi Matter device to control the garage door via dry contact.
A Wi-Fi Matter sensor to detect if the door is open or closed.
A Wi-Fi surveillance camera.
(Optional, but would be great) A standalone Wi-Fi Matter alarm system for the garage only, fully integrable with Home Assistant, without relying on the main hub.
If anyone has successfully implemented a similar setup (or has recommendations for specific hardware), I’d love to hear your input!
