Hey everyone, I've got some tuya (cloud) sort of bulbs in some lamps right now and one by one each of them is starting to give me little problems. Random disconnects that require power cycling, randomly taking long delays before recieving commands, that kind of thing. Anyone have suggestions for some bulbs I can find online (US) that will integrate with HA without needing some sort of cloud and without needing me to set something up to flash new firmware to them? They should be RGBWW preferably, but nothing crazy fancy. I'll take what I can get. Thanks!

start rebooting everything, modem, router, bulbs, HA.. disable ipv6 tempor.
move to zigbee instead of wifi... then use ikea, philips or osram bulbs.
Periodically i get them to work but it's always a new problem and id rather just switch to all local
Those bulbs will work through zigbee without cloud? Ill have to look into zigbee
zigbee runs with NO cloud, you'll need a zigbee coordinator
just ignore any claim from the sellers of zigbee devices about needing their zigbee hub/gateway/coordinator. get a zigbee usb stick to run as coordinator and then make your choice of either zha (built into ha by default, easy to get started with, by now supports almost as many devices as z2m) or z2m (zigbee2mqtt, requires more setup to get going, but you also end up with a working mqtt broker)
what's important before you start setting up zigbee is
- use a 0.5m or longer extension cable for that usb stick.
- select your zigbee channel wisely from the start
Also select your zigbee coordinator wisely. There's ones that can be used via ethernet and USB too. I always recommend the SLZB ones.
i went with the nabu casa one as i think it will be well supported and some of my money ends up at the company making ha possible
What do you want to know exactly?
i am looking for a new aigbee dongle, nabu casa offers 3 as discribed above, what to choose?
AFAIK Nabu Casa only has one zigbee coordinator.
In case you use a SLZB you have choice on how to connect it. You can use PoE if you have it, otherwise use ethernet and power it via USB or connect it directly via USB. Whatever works best for you. I connect it via PoE myself. Avoid WiFi.
zbt-1 is the name of the nabu casa usb stick. iirc it comes with the usb extension cable. and i can buy it at a local store (same one i buy my pi's at). keeping my local store by actually buying there when i can is a priority for me 🙂
sounds good everyone, thank you. I've got a coordinator on the way from amazon, but now I need bulbs... Any suggestions? I don't need the best of the best, and the hue ones are insanely expensive taking a look online. I just want something that works lol
should i be on amazon, or somewhere else? looking at places like menards and best buy all they seem to have is 50 dollar phillips bulbs
i was hoping for 10-15 dollar bulbs although maybe that wont be happening
i am in the US btw
hmm i may have found some
so I don't need this hub like they claim, correct? it will just connect to the coordinator?
i was really expecting way cheaper bulbs for some reason lol
even 20 bucks feels like a lot, my cheap wifi ones were like 10 bucks
as far as i know you dont need the hub when using coordinator. Must say that i dont know nothing about this brand. (im in the Netherlands)
thanks. I would imagine you don't need a hub with the coordinator either
probably just says that so people dont buy a bulb with zero other hardware
i started with tuya, learned that i will never do that again..
tuya local or tuya cloud?
tuya bulbs with tuya cloud, then switched to localtuya, bit of pain in the *ss, now im going with ikea bulbs
ikea zigbee
ahh, yeah right now my bulbs are all tuya cloud and i just keep having issues with them like once a month, something new every time. I have one bulb that will not connect to anything anymore, and one bulb that will randomly disconnect and need a power cycle
meanwhile my esphome stuff i built myself is perfect
do you have a link to the bulbs you bought?
will look for link, on your routers wifi settings, check bandwith of 2,4ghz, use 20 or 40 mhz, not 20-40mhz. helped me
and 2.4ghz band only
aight, ty

google translate 😉
your chosen segled bulb will also work with HA/zigbee.
but it is not a zigbee repeater.
usefull for extending zigbee network range
I use Ikea ZigBee smartplugs and they work as repeaters. The one with energy metering is just 10 euros in Spain. I buy at least one in every trip to Ikea because it's a no brainer. Nice quality 👌
