So I'm a renter and our fuse box is all plug fuses (the little glass knobs) rather than breakers.
Are there any smart fuses that work with plug fuse boxes to monitor energy use or spikes in energy use to automate a shut down of appliances if it's about to trip the fuse?

the answer is likely no, but can you show a photo maybe?
you are likely better off using ct clamp monitoring.

yeah don't mess with the fuses and just use CT clamps

I imagine for a ct clamp id have to have access to something to clamp on to.

North America. They don't have to do anything to upgrade the panel unless they are doing electrical changes/updates.

50-60 years old from what I can tell.
