#Lost access to my Home Assistant – how can I recover it without restarting from scratch?

Hi everyone,
I recently lost access to my Home Assistant and I have no idea how to log back in.

I had set up a custom domain for my HA by following this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXAwT9N-7Hw

The domain was registered through a Japanese website that kept sending me lots of promotional emails. Even after unsubscribing, they continued sending me stuff, so I ended up blocking all emails from them.

After that, I noticed I could no longer access my HA. I think the main reason is that I forgot to renew the domain, and since the emails were blocked, I never received any renewal notices.

My HA is installed on an old x86-64 machine, and I used to access it through the browser using the custom domain.

One more thing: I was receiving around 5 notifications a day that different IPs were trying to access my HA, even though the guy in the video said this setup was safe.

Has anyone experienced something like this?
Is there a way to regain access to my HA without reinstalling and reconfiguring everything from scratch?

– Tried reactivating my old domain, but I couldn’t. (It seems the domain stays unavailable for about a year before it can be claimed by someone else.)

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have covered quite a few different remote access solutions for Home Assistant, either through port forwarding or setting up VPNS but recently, it has emerged there is another way to do it...via a Cloudflare tunnel! So let's take a look at it & I'll show you how to set it up with a free domain name & explain why you may do this over some of tho...

@dusky rapids are you not able to access it locally? As in, http://x.x.x.x:8123 where x.x.x.x is the LAN IP address of the HA host?
