Has anyone had this same issue? When I tried using an NVME drive with a Pi 5 I kept getting issues where I would have to cycle power to get things working again. The drive would appear to lose connection. The configuration.yaml file would be missing until after rebooting for example. I tried using the drive with the Argon Neo NVME case and also with an external USB case using a different NVME drive.

I had no such issues using the official raspberry SSD hat with an official raspberry 256G SSD.

There have, however, been some reported compatibility issues, and not just HA related, with some off brand hats, and some Nvme drives.

The thing is though that I switched to a USB case and had the same issue. The same drive worked as long as it was not an install of home assistant. Raspberry Pi OS worked fine.

Well, that doesn't really mean much. If there's a bad spot on the drive, it could be that Pi OS just hasn't tried to access that particular sector yet.

Do some actual testing of the drive on another machine. And not just SMART testing, but run some read/write tests.
