#Driver Installation on HaOS

the simple answer is: no
the complicated answer is: maybe
haos is "just enough OS to run home assistant"
also the web terminal is not the OS terminal.
Most of the OS is read only, containers are ephemeral and cannot usually interact with the kernel. So yeah might be hard.
realistically... you should run the tuner on a different system
what type of nuc is it?
Different system could also be a different VM or CT on the same machine.
An cheap Intel celeron
which model? how much ram?
Just a sec
this is as impact says. using a hypervisor and virtualising haos might be a workable option
Intel NUC DCCP847DYE Intel Celeron 847E SSD 120GB 4GB RAM
It was the cheapest NUC I could find on ebay 😊
yeah, you dont have the overhead to run virtualised i dont think
you could install a regular distro then run container insttead but you lose some features
Oof. Looks like the slowest too: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Celeron+847E+%40+1.10GHz&id=1468
So should I use another os instead?
It was 40€ it's on my dad's house
To use ha supervised I would need to run other OS
you could install debian or something then run home assistant in docker and tvheadend alongside it in docker too.
you loose the ability to run native "addons" and updating is a bit more manually
dont use supervised
Ok
I see to use docker only
I would loose the Google drive addon
Can't remember if new versions of ha allow that
Messing up with Ubuntu is tricky
is that even needed anymore?
for backups the core integration works great now
Never tested it
It's probably the most lightweight method you can use with your hardware.
Also: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_drive/
I prefer debian. Ubuntu is bloated.
yeah in this case due to limited hardware. starting with debian minimal and adding only what you need from there is probably the better option
Troubleshooting will be harder
I used to run this setup for quite a while. I still do. All that's changed is that it's now a VM rather than bare-metal.
I disagree a lot. HAOS (supervisor, really) is a bit of a blackbox with many moving parts.
One click install is so much easier
You could also ask the devs on github if they can add the driver to HAOS.
The sundtek devs?
no, haos
yeah, you could feature request it but realistically your right its probably unlikely
