#Automation works "randomly"

I've been putting together an automation that arms or disarms our Ring alarm panel based on whether any devices are home and at certain times of day. Basically, if none of the monitored devices are at home, set the alarm to "Away". If any of the devices return home, disarm the alarm. Do this no matter what time or day it is. The alarm is set at 23:00 on weekdays to "home", and at 23:30 on weekends. Finally, if the alarm is disarmed between 23:00 and 06:30 set the alarm back to home after 10 minutes.

I have even gone so far as to do some code checking with ChatGPT and it suggested a couple of refinements. Am I asking too much for one automation/blueprint?

Hi, I use some similar to switch on the cameras

#

I use the location of my family as trigger. If anybody is out, it starts

#

Then looks for all the presence sensors and other devices that states that somebody is at home. If no one of this devices has been activated in some time, then the cameras switch on.

#

At any hour of the day

#

I think the point in your case is to select carefully the trigger

#

And then the rest of conditions

I find that my phones switch to unavailable way too often for them to be reliably used for this automation. I really wish they could be.

Yes, the detection of presence is a little tricky 😅

Because of that I had to figure how to add a layer of detection. Through Ikea PIR detectors, mili wave detectors and some key smartplugs
