Hey All,
Newer Home assistant user here - been fiddling with it on my own for a while and looking to dive into some deeper knowledge. I stumbled upon HACS being discussed a lot in forums and was hoping I could get a run down on it and if this integration I found online would just be found in HACS or if I should just go about manually installing it to the folder myself.

We have a Winix Purifier C545, and it is integrated with HACS: It works great… with one bizarre exception. The unit itself (I don’t think its the integration code, but I could be wrong) does not like to run at max power mode. We run it at the max setting specifically because it creates a perfect white noise for sleeping - so this loudness...

easiest way to install hacs on haos is the "get hacs" addon

hacs is fairly safe but some stuff may not work

#

some stuff can break other things

this will give you some info about the custom integration

#

e.g. when it was last updated and if there are a ton of issues saying "its broken" etc...

this gives you some infomation to help make a decision about it

theres alot of really good integrations on hacs that are perfectly fine. they are just "untested" sometimes integrations do move from there into core

I honestly didn't think to look at issues before installing it as silly as that sounds haha

i like to have a quick glance before i install something

if its not been updated in 4 years and got 6 active issues with no responces then i know I am potentially in for a rough time if i try and use it
