#‼️ PRIME DAY MEGATHREAD
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
(UK) - some shelly stuff on offer HERE no gen 4 stuff though which is very sad.
(EU - GER) - some Aquara gear on Amazonwhich seems to include their sensors, switches, sockets and lock. the actual savings seem relatively close to what they sell on discount at many other times throughout the years
(EU - GER) Alongside Prime Day sales, Amazon has a an interesting 50% discount code offer (hue50) on a buy two kinda offer on certain Hue products such as the lamps I referenced. Additionally the 1600lm color variant seems to be a bit discounted
(EU - GER) Reolink on Amazon seems to mention a sale but from a quick look it's just their usual every other week price without any mention worthy discount.
(EU - GER) Ecowitt weather stations seem to be on sale. Still no unreal savings but they have those discounted less often to my knowledge. Amongst other options & display hubs:
Amazon, WS-90
Amazon, WS-90 + GW2000

The web https://camelcamelcamel.com can compare previous prices, so you can check if there is a real discount. Be aware of that, there is a lot of deception on Internet "discounts"
Usually $200, I might pull the trigger on this today.

Anyone spot any good smarthome deals for someone who is just starting out with ha?
That's about as ambiguous as it gets
Lol fair, just looking for some deals on the basics like plugs and lights. Planning to buy one of tubes coordinators once its back in stock if that helps.

He probably has affiliate links in his content, so be aware if that if you use his links...
He is an IOT Nerd though and it recommendations are good.

Any cameras worth checking out on sale? I run frigate with some amcrest and a reolink doorbell
Not really for reolink
The question is do I buy all the hardware before I can get a coordinator or do I hold off lol.
Why not buy the coordinator as well as the other stuff you need at the same time
Like the devices be useless without a way to control them
Ecobee thermostats have a prime day deal (at least in the US). Also they come with PSE&G mail in rebate that I am a bit hesitant to use (100 USD) as I hear it gives PSEG the rights to monitor it - which I am not a fan of. Otherwise I heard they were pretty great to integrate without the cloud in HA
Waiting for the tubezb poe to come back in stock. It always restocks when im broke lmao so i have missed the last 3.
There is some slzb-06/7 which sometimes gets recommended here
How would they do that? It doesn’t ask for any device account info as a stipulation on the rebate application.
didn't look to deep into it only just bought it - but found this article

I don't buy in Amazon
I don't buy Temu or TicTock.
i purchased some cameras directly from the reolink website just before prime day deals and once prime day deals were in effect, the prices were cheaper so i've asked reolink to give me the prime day pricing. basically $740 vs $600.
Unfortunate timing but that's the regular discount they pull every other week
A pity one out of two suppliers have their own "hubs" of some sort. Why not simply offer Zigbee for instance...
It's literally just Zigbee and can be paired with any Zigbee Coordinator in Homeassistant
Oh! I didn't find any reference to Zigbee on Amazon's product description.
Yea Hue is effectively Signify with Zigbee connectivity, opposed to Wiz being Signify with Wifi
They do mention it in some subtext or the image but it not always that obvious
I think we're not talking about the same. I was referring to the weather station ...
No worries.
The hub (or a display unit) will be needed for it to transmit data in a way that homeassistant can interact with. I recall it being mqtt or something but that differs a bit between units. Gotta check a matrix to be sure with the display variants
Communication with that is simply RF so I guess you could also tap into that directly
Zigbee isn't a great choice for outdoor applications at range as it's more of a low power solution
I would have assumed that transmitting half a dozen data points every minute using Zigbee would be a great use case for a solar/battery powered outdoor device.
It's not as if a weather station would require several Mbit/sec speeds and latency is also not an issue.
I suspect it simply wasn't a use case they anticipated
Totally off-topic here but Bluetooth could be an option too. And if the distance is too long, an ESP32 with ESPHome as Bluetooth repeater half way could also be a solution
I use the Smlight SLZB-06 as ZigBee hub and it's perfect
so I've got some sonoff s31 smart plugs with energy monitoring that work on wifi (I flashed them with tasmoda to make them work locally), but i've got to thinking about how I'm not sure I want to have my home assistant devices on wifi just because of the annoyance of keeping wifi functioning and online and then having a TON of wifi devices on the same router, and then network security, having the devices being able to access the internet, etc. sounds no bueno... thinking I should have gone with zigbee maybe? thoughts?
also if I do zigbee, what are some good 15-20a (120v) energy monitoring smart plugs that work well with home assistant?
Ikea has Zigbee smartplugs, around 10 € here in Spain. Cheap and reliable
Without power monitoring costs less, around 6€
For 15-20A your choices are very limited
Please move to your own #1284966353798697001 thread for recommendations tho
Anyone know some good ip cameras that work well with frigate I was looking at Reolink RLC1224a but not sure if theyre reliable, my current hikvision cameras are old analogue ones and is dying
