I'm working with a shiny new PE set up by its wizard. Using HA cloud for both STT and TTS and HA for Conversation agent. overall it works great and as expected. However, I'm struggling trying to find the logic with some failed device adds. I'm hoping there is a log or technique that will help to determine why it doesn't like certain words. For example, there are 2 lamps in my bedroom; one is Jims lamp.. One Shar's lamp. Identically configured except for device and entity names. If I say turn on the bedroom lights, all lights work as expected. If I say turn on Jims Lamp. it works as expected. If I say turn on Shars Lamp, It says "sorry, I'm not aware of any area called Shars" I've gone as far as to rename the entity "shares lamp" (phonetically) . Added various versions of Shar, Shary, as alias's. Even added it as a sentence in the custom Phrases automation. no luck. no change. Shar is a room. Oh, if I type the command into assist, it works as expected.. I'm pretty technical and have several years HA experience (close to 200 devices). Definitely not an expert, but I can muddle through a lot. Not a coder but not afraid to push keys. How does one go about troubleshooting what I presume is an unhappy STT function?

Have you looked at the voice assistant debug to see what it thinks it heard? Settings > voice assistants > ... On the desired assistant > debug
