Dashboard area card broke (light switch)

After the update all the cards that were for switching lights on or off in an area started to look like this:

This is the home assistant core update that happened today

temp and humidity does still show in the same card, but the simple on off bulb picture to click and switch on a section now looks like this and is unable to work

These are area cards. They have been updated and have to be setup again. Jump into the editor and add your features back in.

and the sizing is very weird now as you see

probably easier to just redo them all, no?
Is this something that I can expect more when using home assistant, that it can sort of break my dashboard?

You can resize them through the layout tab while editing them. You can also make the button show up next to the name instead underneath it.

As to stuff breaking, I'm not a developer but i know that there are some cards that need a refresher. The area-card was one of them. Could they have created a "new" area card and left the old one alone? Probably. But at some point it would change/removed anyways.
Maybe there are ways of smoother integration, you are not the first I've read about having problems since the update and the developers surely saw that too. They might consider that next time.

the resize does not allow me to make it smaller, only larger 🙂

so it seems I will need to recreate the dashboard I think

I go keep it with broken due to update then and start making screenshots of them before the broke in relation to updates

and maybe start using backup and rollback

But I think it would be a nice way forward to have updates not break existing unless strictly necessary and maybe a nice warning with such updates that dashboard will need to be re-done

I do have a backup dash for this specifically, but it is kinda sad that this happens

owh wow, so even remaking keeps it ugly and broken for area control card...... honestly this kinda sucks 😄

can only do a single light bulb but no a group

can do a group but has to be huge and adds the slider also 😄

Holy shit 😄 Ok...... so filling in nothing in rows fixes it, it defaults to "null" any actual number will not work 😄

so add feature -> area control
code editor change rows to "null" or remove number leave blank and save (will make it null also)

You can also change the display type to hide the top picture in the Area card settings
